Fees and Accounts
We accept patients with insurance from most private health funds, uninsured self-funded patients, Department of Veterans' Affairs recipients, or patients with approved Workers Compensation.
Private Health Insurance
Toronto Private Hospital is the leading Hunter Region private mental health hospital. We have contracts with the majority of private health insurance funds. Before admission, we will check your fund details.
If your private health insurance does not fully cover your stay, we will let you know your estimated out-of-pocket expenses. You will need to pay this before admission.
You are not required to pay the portion of your account covered by your private health fund. We will claim those benefits on your behalf. As part of our policy on informed financial consent, we will give you an estimate of your expenses and a form to sign.
Effective 1 April 2018, Australian Government changes to private health insurance coverage for mental health services will take effect.
Read about these changes, and how it may apply to you.
Uninsured Self-Funded Patients
If you're an uninsured, self-funded patient, you will need to pay a deposit based on an estimated length of stay of at least one week in advance. Our Admission and Assessment Coordinator will give you more information about this as part of the admission process.
Department of Veterans' Affairs Patients
