Dr Bhattacharyya completed a Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at the University of Mumbai, followed by a Diploma in Psychological Medicine (DPM) and a Doctor of Medicine (MD) in 2000. Dr Bhattacharyya then completed the Diplomate National Board (DNB) Psychiatry, on 2001 in Delhi.
After relocating to Australia, Dr Bhattacharyya obtained Fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatry (FRANZCP) in 2010, followed by Advanced training in 2013.
Dr Bhattacharyya began working with Hunter New England Area Health Service in 2003, managing patients with various psychiatric disorders including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, substance abuse disorders and personality disorders among groups ranging in age from adolescents to geriatrics. Her experience with HNE Health spanned across facilities in Lake Macquarie, Maitland and Newcastle, including the after hours emergency centre in James Fletcher Hospital, where she continues to work today.
In 2021 Dr Bhattacharyya joined the team at Toronto Private Hospital where she assesses and manages care of both inpatients and outpatients. While she practices all general adult Psychiatry, she has a keen interest in long term Psychotherapy with patients suffering from Complex Borderline Personality Disorders (BPD) and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
